			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Church Council met on March 20th and discussed the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Heard reports from the following committees: Board of Christian Education, Finance, Cemetery. Mission Committee will meet April 10th and the Worship Committee did not meet.</li>
<li>Appointed Christina Boyer to the Board of Christian Education to finish the term of Deanna Terpstra, due to her recent move. This term will expire August 31, 2012.</li>
<li>Approved the recommendation from the Cemetery COuncil to award the mowing bid to Mark Mashaw. His contract will start April 1st.</li>
<li>Pastor Scott gave dates that he will be away from the pulpit and will being working on Pulpit Supply for those dates. Denny Buss will preach on May 27th while Pastor Scott is in NY for Kyle&#8217;s college graduation.</li>
</ul>
<p>Next meeting was set for April 17th at 7pm.</p>

They would like to know how many people in the church would be willing to receive their monthly newsletter via email <strong>or</strong> would be willing to pick it up at the church th elast Sunday of the month? If you would be willing to receive the newsletter in one of these ways, please contact the church office at 815-865-5314 or stpaulucc@stateline-isp.com as soon as possible. If there is enough interest, we would like to begin this new method as soon as the new copier has been purchased.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The St. Paul Church COuncil met on March 16th and discussed the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>The purchase of a new copy machine for the office.</li>
<li>Newsletter mailings &#8211; decided to see if people would be willing to receive via email or pick it up at church the last Sunday of the month. This would help reduce expenses.</li>
<li>Offerings for bicycles for pastors in India totaled $1,617.00 or approximately 30 bikes. Thank you to all those that contributed to this mission outreach.</li>
<li>Dianna Geiseman will serve on the Worship Committee. All committees have been filled! Thank you to those that have chosen to serve the Lord in this way.</li>
<li>Fred Smith is willing to make wooden markers to mark the different sections of the cemetery.</li>
<li>Discussed some wrok that needs to be done on the boiler. Wayne Blocker has been checking on the boilers regularly.</li>
<li>Okayed the Sunshine Club from Davis to meet at the church due to future construction at the State Bank of Davis.</li>
<li>Looked at proposals for projectors and screens from Raymond Electronics.</li>
<li>Confirmation Sunday will be on April 26th with Statements of Faith being presented that day also. Holy Communionon April 26th will serve as our Communion for the month of May.</li>
</ul>
<p>The next meeting is set for Monday, April 20th at 7pm.</p>

<ul>
<li>Cemetery map and the current layout/labeling. This wil be further discussed at the next meeting. Also appointed Richard Meinert to the Cemetery Committee  to help out as needed until Fred Meinert&#8217;s health improves.</li>

<li>Discussed boiler room issues and settings on controls.</li>
<li>Mission Committee will give us recommendations for missions to support for the coming year.</li>
<li>Discussed the carpet problem at the entry doors to the sanctuary.</li>
<li>Mowing prices for 2009 will be teh same price as in 2008 with services being provided by Schmerse Lawn Care.</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We would like to thank all those that helped &#8220;spruce&#8221; up the church during our workday on November 1st. Thanks to Roger &#038; Gladys Meinert and Jerry &#038; Carol Olsen for continuing to put plastic over the windows. We certainly appreciate everything that has been done.</p>
<p>With the onset of winter, we would like to let you know that the church will now be locked until 8am each day.   If you have an early morning need at the church, please talk with a Council member or the church office and arrangements can be made to have it opened earlier.   And, beginning after Christmas, the north doors will be locked for the winter and will be opened once the snow is gone.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Once again, it&#8217;s time to be thinking about the upcoming winter months and the snow that accompanies it. The Church Council is again looking for a few people that would be willing to split the responsibility of <strong>shoveling the sidewalks</strong> at the church once the snow begins to fly. It would be nice to have at least four people willing to help with this, as that would mean you would be responsible for only one week out of each winter month. If we do not get the volunteers we need, this could become an expense for the church as we would need to hire someone to do the removal. There is a snow blower at the church as well as shovels. Please pray about this and see if this is an area that God would ike for you to help with. Contact a council member if you will be willing to serve in this way.</p>
<p>We are also looking for someone that would be willing to <strong>check on the boilers</strong> when the temperatures are extremelly cold. It would be just checking to make sure they are running. Please talk with Adam Boyer about this job, as it is not as difficult as one might think.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Church Council has approved the offering for June 22nd to be designated to Thomas and Rhonda Curry, missionaries to India. The Curry&#8217;s will speak during worship on August 17th. Following is more information about the Curry&#8217;s:<span id="more-109"></span></p>
<p>Thomas and Rhonda Curry are scheduled for deployment to India this coming September. Sponsored by contributing individuals and churches, they will be under the supervision of two mission agencies &#8211; Friends of Hope and OMS International.</p>
<p>The Currys have been involved with Christian missions in India since 1991. In 1998 they assisted with the starting of Hope Home, a home for destiture children in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.</p>
<p>Thomas is an ordained minister with the Conservative Congregation Christian Conference having pastored two churches in twenty-seven years of ministry. Recently, he completed an M.A. in Global Development through William Carey International University. His book <u>God&#8217;s Heart for the Nations</u>, is used widely throughout India in the training of Christian workers. He has coordinated many missions conferences and pastor conferences, having received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the India Bible Institute, New Delhi, in 1995.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A Congregational meeting was held after worship and a potluck meal on May 18th to vote on the proposed Constitutional amendments made by the Church Council due to our new membership in the <a href="http://www.ccccusa.com/" target="_blank">Conservative Congregational Christian Conference</a>.</p>
<p>The first order of business, however, was making Pastor Dick our Transitional Minister instead of our Interim Minister. The motion was accepted and ballots were passed resulting in 56 &#8220;yes&#8221; votes and 0 &#8220;no&#8221; votes.</p>
<p>After a review of the changes that were made to the proposed constitution, President Randy Filer asked for any questions or discussion. Seeing none, a motion was made and seconded to accept the changes to the constitution. Ballots were passed resulting in 61 &#8220;yes&#8221; votes and 0 &#8220;no&#8221; votes. So, the constitution that you all received in the mail, is now the official constitution of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna.</p>
