Salvation Army Collection for November – food and winter coats

During the month of November the Board of Christian Education is encouraging you to help fill up the table with much needed items. After talking with someone at the Salvation Army, their food supply is VERY low and the following items are needed: canned meat products (i.e. tuna, salmon, chicken, Spam), Beef Stew, Chef Boyardee ravioli, beefaroni, spaghetti & meatballs, peanut butter & jelly, hearty soups—Chunky brand, Progresso, etc, paper products, coffee. They said they get a good supply of vegetables from the food bank, but are in great need of items that people can just open and have as a meal. The shelves at the Salvation Army are bare so there is a great need for food, especially with the onset of winter quickly approaching!

There is also a need of winter boats, boots, hats, gloves, mittens and blankets. If you have clean, gently used items please bring them to the church by November 13th and we will make sure they get to the Salvation Army. Thank you for your continued support of this local mission. May God contribute to bless your giving.

Summer Sunday School for Pre-K – H.S.

Summer Sunday School classes for the Pre-K through High School age will be different this summer beginning June 1. The individual classes will be taking the summer off; however, there will still be meeting/activity time for the children who attend and all age groups will be combined as one teacher will plan some type of story/activity for those who attend. Junior High and High School students who would like to attend are welcome to help during this time. The Board of Christian Education wanted to continue to offer a meeting time for children, but several teachers desired to have a break in the summer and that is what prompted the change. So parents may continue to bring their children as there will be a meeting time, but all age groups will be combined.

In the Fall we are planning a new rotation model which is a center-based approach to teaching Sunday School using different activities or themes, similar to Bible School. The Board of Christian Education are looking for more volunteers to help with Sunday School in order to get this program off to a super start. If you would like more information and want to help in some way, please contact Karen Kleckner or call the church office. Watch for more updates in the summer months.
