First Baptist Church 413 W. Empire St, Freeport IL, 61032
What are you standing on?
Awana is centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is powerful and transformational. It is the firm foundation for all ages. We desire every Awana Club to be focused on sharing God’s message of salvation with everyone. From game time to handbook time and everything in between, the gospel should stand at the core of all we do. Rather than get distracted by media and ministry details, we want you and your club to live out the gospel so every child, parent, and leader will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
This year, at Awana Ministry Conferences across the country, you will have the opportunity to join other Awana leaders for a one-day training event designed to equip your club to declare the power of the gospel. Through inspirational messages, dynamic teaching, practical workshops and encouraging interactions with other Awana volunteers, you will be challenged to stand committed to the gospel like never before.
It is time to take a stand. Will you?
Awana started September 12, 2012 with 13 children and ended on March 13, 2013 with 24 children. The clubbers learned 525 Bible verses as a whole. They completed 3 missions, which included 6 boxes to Samaritan’s Purse, 66 cans of food for the FFCA, and $40 to Awana International. I would like to thank each of the 28 volunteers that helped out and each and every clubber for a great year. Hope to see everyone again on September 11, 2013 at 6pm.
May’s mission offering has been designated to our AWANA missionary, JP Morgan. Although JP will be unable to be with us this month, he continues to offer support in many ways—through email and phone contact whenever we have questions, needs or concerns, and we will invite him to join us again next fall, when our AWANA club starts back up. He serves over 90 churches in this region—many in the inner city of Chicago or with a very small budget to assist him, and he is over $1000/month short of the level of support that he needs. Funds that are given do not go directly to JP, but are sent through AWANA, International. (The same is true for the offering for Dana and Carolyn which goes to the mission organization SIM to distribute back to them up to the level of their need.) Should he raise more support than has been budgeted to meet his needs, any additional will go to the vital work of AWANA, International, which ministers to children and families across the United States and throughout the world. Please pray for JP’s needs to be abundantly supplied and for guidance on your role in support of his mission work throughout Northern Illinois.
AWANA Families – AWANA will start at 6pm this Wednesday, March 6th. There will be no family dinner this week.

The Awana staff is looking for a few people that would be willing to get the Fellowship Hall ready for Awana each Wednesday and then set it back up for Sunday. This entails taking tables down and arranging chairs. If you would be willing to help out in the way, please give April a call in the church office and she can give you further details.
Calling all girls and boys age 2 thru 6th grade! Come enjoy our AWANA club nights and join in the fun! We will meet each Wednesday now through the middle of March 2012. This year we will enjoy many more theme nights with activities that are related to the theme.
The most important part is the power your children will experience as they hide God’s Word in their hearts, learning to know, love, and serve our Savior!
Please call the church if you have any questions and also to obtain a registration form for your child! Visitors from your neighborhood, school, or community are welcome. Children work at their own pace to complete their activity books and then join together for game time! Please come and check it out!!
