Awana News

Congratulations to our AWANA clubbers who participated in the area Sparks-A-Rama and AWANA Games in Machesney Park on April 5th. Our St. Paul Sparkies were combined with members from Grace Family Bible Church for the competition and won first place for their division. The T&T’ers were combined with members from Park Hills EF Church in Freeport, and their team placed second. The events were very exciting and competitive, with approximately 140 youth participating in the AWANA Games and 70 in the Sparks-A-Rama. The spectators were enthusiastic in cheering on their clubs, and the whole event was an excellent testimony to great sportsmanship, teamwork, and wonderful fun in a truly Christian atmosphere. There was a time set aside during both the morning and afternoon events for a Gospel presentation. We had a great time, learned a lot for future years, and really appreciated the way in which Grace Family and Park Hills welcomed and included our students to allow them to compete. Thank you to the many members who helped make this possible, and for the many who came to cheer us on! Thank you to our participants for making us proud by their behavior, attitudes and great effort!

We will be conducting this school year’s club nights on May 28th with a pizza party and awards presentation. We invite parents and all of our volunteers to be in attendance that evening to help us celebrate a wonderful first year! We will start up again in September, and we hope that many volunteers will again say “YES!” to the young people of our communityby giving of your time, talent and/or treasure to help train them to know, love and serve the Lord.

Special Invitation: To all our members and friends, please join us at 7 PM on Wednesday, May 28th. We will present special awards to each of our club members and conclude with ice cream for all! We hope to see you there!
